A genus of a few species of trees, shrubs and herbs, natives of Australasia. It is allied to Hoheria, differing in the smaller flowers with linear stigmas and solitary carpels. With the removal to Hoheria of H. glabrata and H. lyallii, the genus Plagianthus becomes one of scant horticultural importance, though P. betulinus is occasionally met with in gardens.
