A genus of two or three species, natives of the Himalaya and S.E. Asia, named in honour of Sir Robert Colquhoun, Bart., ‘a gentleman very conversant with the various branches of natural history’ and at one time a patron of the Botanic Garden at Calcutta.

C. coccinea has been reintroduced from Nepal by A. D. Schilling under his field-number 2098. From this collection derives the clone ‘Jumbesi’, which received an Award of Merit in 1981.
