Desfontainia

Family

Potaliaceae

A small genus of some five species, native of S. America, once placed in the family Loganiaceae but, with a few tropical and subtropical genera, now considered to constitute an independent family – the Potaliaceae – which differs from Loganiaceae in the fleshy fruits and in the flowers, the lobes of which are contorted in bud (convolute), each overlapping its neighbour along one edge only.
